Why Donate?
The Dauphin Island Sea Lab is a marine research and educational institution, founded in 1971 by the Alabama legislature as the Marine Environmental Sciences Consortium. The Lab serves twenty-one public and private Alabama colleges and universities, and its faculty work toward the combined purposes of conducting scientific research plus offering educational programs for individuals as well as organizations. Utterly unique in this dual role, the Lab teaches marine science to K5 through post-graduate students from literally all over the world. The Dauphin Island Sea Lab Foundation was established in 2002 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization to promote community awareness of the Lab and its activities, and to assist in developing new resources to ensure the future long-term growth of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Created by a group of community leaders, the all-volunteer trustees of the Foundation recognize two overriding facts:
- The Sea Lab must continue its role as a national leader in coastal marine research, science education, and coastal policy development. - The availability of State funds to aid the Lab in achieving its full potential is limited. The Foundation has established the George F. Crozier Endowment Fund, an investment vehicle with a goal of raising $1 million in principal that will never be touched. The interest and dividend earnings generated each year will provide a yearly infusion of income to the Sea Lab for faculty, programs, and facility expansion. To build this endowment, we need your help. There are many ways to give to the Foundation. Outright gifts of money, securities, real estate, insurance policies, equipment and personal property, bequests and memorial gifts are a few options. We are honored to accept restricted as well as unrestricted gifts, at your direction. To donate online, just click the DONATE NOW button.
